The Moerangi Track is a 35 km dual purpose track, which attracts both mountain bikers and trampers to experience a multi-day adventure deep in the wonderful 'Jurassic' Whirinaki Te Pua-a-Tāne Conservation Park.

Moerangi Mountain Bike Dirt Track

35km , 5-8 hours with a medium/high level of fitness, GRADE: 3, (INTERMEDIATE) - The Moerangi Mountain Bike Track is a dual purpose track which attracts both mountain bikers and trampers. The track is an intermediate grade biking track (Grade 3) designed to attract people of all skill levels. The track does have sustained hill sections and therefore requires a medium/high level of fitness.


Situated along the track are three huts, Skips, Rogers and Moerangi. All three spots are a great place to have a rest and let others catch up. 

Getting There

Blue Tui Shuttles will collect you from your Rotorua accommodation and deliver you and your bikes to the start of the track on the Okahu Rd approx. 1.5 hour’s drive from Rotorua, then collect you at the end of the track at the River Rd car park and deliver you back to your accommodation.
