A Fun and easy way to visit the stunning regions of the NZ North Island By Bike

Te Awa River Ride

The Te Awa River Ride is a relatively easy trail and can be cycled in either direction, south to north following the flow of the river or north/south.   The two complete sections are Ngaruawahia to Hamilton Gardens at 29kms and Cambridge to Lake Karapiro at 18.4kms.

The unfinished section  i.e. the section from Hamilton Gardens to the Avantidrome on the outskirts of Cambridge  at 19.3kms is easy riding  from the Gardens to the outskirts of Hamilton and then on paths and country roads through to Cambridge, town of “Trees and Champions”. There are a few short uphills to negotiate but for the main part you are on flat purpose built concrete paths or sealed country roads.

There are a number of cafes for you to enjoy and the trail can either be completed in one or two days.  There are numerous fine accommodations within the city for your comfort.
