Te Awa River Ride

The Te Awa River Ride is a relatively easy trail and can be cycled in either direction, south to north following the flow of the river or north/south.   The two complete sections are Ngaruawahia to Hamilton Gardens at 29kms and Cambridge to Lake Karapiro at 18.4kms. 


The  section from Hamilton Gardens to Cambridge at 19.3kms is easy riding.  Once you leave Hamilton city you will be  following paths and back country roads  to the outskirts of Cambridge and the world famous Avantidrome.   

On this trail there are a few short uphills to negotiate but for the main part you are on flat purpose built concrete paths or sealed country roads.  


There are a number of cafes for you to enjoy and the trail can be completed in either one or two days.  There are numerous fine accommodations within the city for your comfort. 



Ngaruawahia to Lake Karpario - 66.7 biking kilometers. 

Hamilton City to Lake Karapiro - 47.7 biking kilometres. 

Hamilton Gardens to Lake Karapiro - 37.7 biking kilometres.
